Service contracts,per call problems,etc. I had a hard drive go out on my micro val manual cmm last week and had no way
of even getting info off of it without having to spend an arm and a leg. So,got a new one and low and behold,the PCI encoder card...by Brown and Sharpe isn't recognized or working right. I call them and guess what? "Do you have a service contract with us?". No - the machine isn't even worth the cost to bring it to date. All I want is a driver for YOUR card. This SHOULD be available via download off the site? right?..NOOOO. So,now I have a dead CMM due to no access to any drivers.NICE! What a scam!
I think I'm going to start requesting that my customers buy into my own service contracts,that way if we make bad parts for them,they will have to have some sort of contract...which will be waaaay over priced,just to talk to me as an inspector! Looks like I just lost a CMM due to the loss of a computer hard drive.hhmmm. Oh well,the cmm will make a good anchor for someones boat!
