CMM training 301

I am interested to know if anyone has taken this course. I am trying to get my boss to sign off on sending me to this training as I think it would be useful. Some stuff I am already but hoping to gain some more from actually taking the class. What is anyone's thoughts on if it is worth it?
  • Sounds pretty neat. All of the things the description covered come in very handy, depending on what you check. I'd go.

    Ken,

I took the course at Hexagon in Waukesha, WI, this last April. I've been using PC-DMIS since 2011 and had both level 1 and 2 (101 and 201 now) at Hexagon in Elgin 2011 and 2012.

While the course is a great place to learn advanced stuff my OPINION is that if you're just doing pretty basic things like 1-2-3 alignments, simple programming, and things that don't change much you might want to wait to make sure you've got a strong handle on the level 1 and 2 classes. If you're doing advanced things at work, are stretching you ability to do things with PC-DMIS and the status quo, and are constantly looking to the forum for ideas and more programming possibilities then this class is a good start for you.

My only gripe with the class is that instead of the instructor walking you through a few different ways to do things he would tell you to try and do this, and then let you struggle through trying to figure out how to apply the things you just learned 15 minutes ago. Would have been better for the three of us there to have him walk us through a few different methods (and reasons why) in the class room before just dumping us out on the floor to try and figure it out

If you'd like anymore (opinions) PM me and I'll discuss further with you.

  • I actually prefer to learn the way you are describing. Slight smile But, I'm willing to bet it is instructor dependent, not specific to the 301 class.
  • Ken,

I took 301 with Wagner Lee in North Kingstown RI. This class was great! My only suggestion would like these gentlemen here suggested is challenge yourself slightly and just spend some time exploring PC-DMIS in areas you don't normally use and just do a quick overview of vb.net type computer languages and I promise 301 will be very fun for you. This will start to click and it opens up a whole new world of programming. It will really become the next level for you.

I was up helping Wagner with the rest of the class Slight smile
