We have recently quoted our 1st automotive parts at my company. We have some quotes to an outside vendor to make some checking gages. The descriptions on the gages have datum "NETS" and "BUMP NETS" listed. Anyone know what these are exactly ?
Nets are the datum pads where the part nests. I don't know why they're called "nets" though. They should match datum target callouts, so a point callout should have a hemispherical shape. A target zone callout should have a net that is that shape and size, ie square 20, or diameter 10, or what-have-you.

I'm sure someone here has used the term "bump nets" before. It's just not one that I've heard.
I'd guess some specific type of net, like maybe retractable, or something along those lines. Otherwise, I'm not sure why there would need to be a clarifying term.
