I just got a job offer for a company that is using PC-DMIS now but is switching over to ZEISS CYLYPSO. It sounds like they are prepared to spend some money on training and I was hoping to hear from anyone who has done this.
Is there a big learning curve?
Is CYLYPSO a big difference?
What were the biggest hurdles you encountered?
Is one software easier to learn the other?
Any thoughts and information is appreciated.
Thanks.
Many years ago I worked with AVAIL,MM4, MeasureMax (the worst so far, no graphics at all) then PC-DMIS, after 7 years of using PCDMIS a was wired in a comany with OPEN-DMIS, what a night mare.
Thank God, I convince the company to switch over to PCDMIS, and my hole Life changed, I can not expres enough how much a love this softweare!!!
I have 2 online seats of PCDMIS with an offline seat, and I have two online seats with an offline of Zeiss's new sheet metal software "CALIGO" and my experience with Zeiss has been pleasant, with the training and support they offer. With that said, PCDMIS is used daily, and Caligo hasn't been touched since we were trained. PCDMIS just suits our needs a little better.
Honestly, I wouldn't know where to start. You have to have some computer programming skills. It's open source, and parts of PC-DMIS are built off of it. If you look around on Google you'll see homemade CAD programs and stuff that folks have created from it.
