Every company of that size is for sale with few exceptions...At that point everything is owned by stockholders and not the guy who started it. They are just numbers on spreadsheet.

Although i must correct you in that it's not just the metrology part...it would be the entire Hexagon AB. Which includes Leica and Intergraph.
