It also states (A1-A4). That means that the surface in question is the surface that Datum A is on, but Datum A only applies to target zones/points A1 to A4.
I have never had to use Datum targets but that's what I was thinking however I couldn't tell by the picture how big that surface is and wasn't sure how you could restrain Datum-A without covering the targets.
