Trig Question

So my trig abilities are not the greatest. If I had a diameter of 58.044" and an angle of 25.714 degrees if I want to know the distance from the center of the diameter intersected with the angle is there an online calculator I can use to get the answer?

  • 26.14798 or 12.59204 if I got the picture right. Either the opposite or the adjacent of a 29.022 hypotenuse.

    Elaborating on this:

    Every point on a circle can be described by the following coordinate: (r*cos(a), r*sin(a)), assuming you are moving counter-clockwise from X+ (which points right) and the circle is centered on (0,0), where r is the radius of the circle.

    So, for a 25.714 degree angle;

    The X coordinate is: 29.022*cos(25.714)= 26.148.

    The Y coordinate is: 29.022*sin(25.714)= 12.592.

    You can also remember SOH, CAH, TOA, which means: Sin Opposite/Hypotenuse, Cosine Adjacent/Hypotenuse, Tangent Opposite/Adjacent.

    So, to find the opposite leg of a triangle (the one opposite the angle in question)

    Sin(angle)= opposite/hypotenuse ****Multiply both sides by the hypotenuse to solve for the opposite.

    Hypotenuse*sin(angle)=opposite

    Hypotenuse*cos(angle)=adjacent
