metrology education resources

Hi everyone!

Last week, I stumbled on an extremely helpful link to some educational materials at NPL, which is a British organization. I wondered if everyone might be willing to share other resources for general metrology education resources? I'm tentatively putting together and orientation and evaluation for new operators at our place and would LOVE to have videos and papers for them to review if we find areas where they need to improve. It would be ideal if these materials were based in English measurement, not metric, since we measure in inches in our shop.

I'll start!

Hexagon Metrology U - mainly for learning things about our CMMs: https://www.hexagonmetrologyu.com/Default.asp?

National Public Laboratory - papers and guides for CMM and metrology: http://www.npl.co.uk/publications/guides/

Mitutoyo online educational materials - papers and guides explaining how precision measurement tools work and how to use them: http://www.mitutoyo.com/on-demand/

Hope this turns out helpful for everyone!

  • I've found Tec-Ease to always be a great resource for GD&T answers. Feels like I'm asking my Dad about it. And of course, there's always the ASME standard reference. But it so dry, best to keep a pitcher of water handy when attempting to digest it.
Almost forgot... there is this forum and that OTHER one as well. Great GD&T professors reside at both. Just gotta know whom to trust ....... Sunglasses ........
