PC-DMIS to MCOSMOS

Hello everyone. It’s been awhile since I have been on here, my company was bought by another company and things have gotten crazy and haven’t had time to get on here.
Anyways, I am taking a job to program using MCOSMOS and I wanted to hear from anyone who has used that software.
The company is sending me for week training as soon as I start.
How is the transition? Thoughts? Major differences? Really anything relevant is appreciated.
Thanks in advance and I hope all of you are doing good.

  • I've used MCOSMOS for about a year and a half.
I think the biggest pain in the as--I mean butt, is the separate software "elements" that you constantly have to jump between to make on-the-fly changes.
It's been about 3 years, so I don't recall exactly, but there's an editor program, and an execute program... (or maybe a creator and an editor?)
You have to open the editor to create and edit routines, and it can't execute routines.
Then, when you execute routines, you can't edit a darn thing within that software. you have to close the execution sw, open the editor, make you tiny change, then save, close reopen and re-execute.
It's equal to PCDMIS otherwise, for the most part. DMIS script based code, almost exact command lingo, just a different UI and buttons. Has some wonky Japanese translations, unhelpful help file as a result.
  • Sounds interesting... I guess i am headed for some fun. Thank you
