Yes, some companies, mine included, also check the contents of ZIP files. My company locks ZIP files from external sources, and we have to request that they be unlocked.
I've never seen a virus checker that could remove files from a ZIP though.
I've done it with a file storage facility like Box or Google Drive. Just create a folder to share with whoever needs it, put the files in there. Easier than trying to email it, and it doesn't interfere with your companies email policies.
As mentioned, daemons/AV that look inside a zip'd file will reject-o most every time. So I, like PacMan says, just change the file extension before zipping.
I prefer changing the PRG to PDF 'cause hey! who doesn't trust Adobe?
Just let the recipient know to change it back once received. Never had a problem with the associated CAD extension.
File size could be an issue. I always ask what the company max policy is before sending.
2¢ from the mail room..........
I get these now and then from customers - a .ZIP archive where the .PRG file has its contents changed to the text "Illegal attachment removed". Very interesting error messages from PC-DMIS when one tries to open that .PRG file - might be "...was created in a newer version" even if I run the 2018 R2 beta...
