I am seeking comparisons between the Zeiss Caligo platform vs. Pc-Dmis specifically for Dual Horizontal Arm CMM application, both touch probe and laser line scanning.
I understand Caligo specializes in carbody work and is great for things like profile evaluation and gap & flush checks.
I am concerned with ease of learning and use as well as Caligo's ability to evaluate complex GD&T like a composite feature control frame applied to a pattern of holes and/or complex prismatic parts with multiple datum reference frames.
Known problems GD&T (multiple datums) Multiple datums from previous CALIGO versions get lost and have to be generated as the respective feature in the measurement plan. Stylus changer with invalid base system and safety envelope The following aspect has to be considered for the CNC start of a CALIGO measurement plan with stylus changer and invalid base coordi- nate system: make sure that the styli used are not changed automatically as long as the base system is invalid. The part located on the machine is not yet known to the navigation function which therefore cannot work properly to avoid collisions. There is a risk of collision . Material thickness The CAD converters do not provide the correct material thickness. This is why the material thickness is not loaded from the CAD model. Positioning in the workpiece coordinate system (“CALIGO DMIS” option) Movement is only possible in machine coordinates. The workpiece coordinates are only displayed.
