Measure Mind Vision Software ? Anyone familiar ?

Anyone familiar with measuremind vison software ? We measure all of our DIE profiles on a OGP vision scope running measuremind. The inspector told me that the software is not capable of measuring MMC /LMC and we do that with our QC-CALC software. What really spurred the conversation is that we need to add MMC on a slot and he said he just cannot do it. He said we have the most recent version of the software as well. Does anyone know anything that could help me point him in the right direction or at least leave me confused on how a software in 2020 isnt capable of such a basic function ?
  • I used the software about 8 years ago and it didn't have it on there then. We run a Keyence IM system and it can do MMC/LMC on a feature, but does not do MMB/LMB for datums.
  • The real 'latest' version of MeasurMind is QVI Zone3.
Zone3 will enable you to measure tolerance of position with MMC MMB bonuses.
  • I haven't used the software but another quality group in the company does. I've had a conversation with them in the past about MMC / LMC and they also said it's not possible with MeasureMind. Your inspector will have to calculate bonus tolerance manually. If it's datum shift that is the concern, you'll likely have to use a 3rd party software. Don't know of any offhand but I know that they are out there.

Out of the box and painful idea would be to see if Measure Mind can export data in CSV format., import the data into PC DMIS using Generic features and use PC DMS's Xact measure to evaluate. Probably way more trouble than what it's worth.....
  • We use QC-CALC and get the bonus. To be honest I thought the inspector was full of BS when he said software couldn't do it. This kind of floors me that the software is that "weak".....
  • The more I look at Vision machines and their history the more that it seems they were developed to check printed circuit board patterns and thru holes very quickly. Not a lot of GD&T on a printed circuit board..... They've tried to graft on some other capabilities but that's not their bread and butter. Don't know how many significant changes have happened in the software but I'm sure that the core is at least 20 years old. That's when our OGP was bought with a Measure Mind package. We've kept up to date with the revisions but I've never heard of any earth shattering improvements. Just llike PC DMIS the core of the software is pretty much the same as it's always been.
  • yes, MeasurMind is actually programmed with old DOS-level PYTHON code, and is essentially software capability-locked until they make a major shift. That's where Zone3 comes into play. it's an add-on software, but only more recently made OGP's can handle it. We've got seven OGP's on site, and only 3 are capable of Zone3. nobody on site has had a need to validate it tho. lol.
  • I use MeasureMind software (old version) and I use the math function to calculate bonus and display it on my printouts. This way they (the operators) don't have to do math and they can apply whatever the result is to their tolerance to determine if it's good or not. There is also an MMC feature that will calculate it for you, but it is limited and easy to use incorrectly.
