I got an email saying that I started my registration. Quite interesting as I have not initiated this. I'll have to check to see if my boss is signing us up to go! It would be cool to go to one of these.

If you are going, we should meet up for lunch one day.
  • I'm surprised it's not cancelled like everything else that was planned. They're concerned with people's health safety.

EDIT: it's sooooo far out into the year, duh!!!.
  • There is a statement on the website about it.
  • We should. I am not sure if I am going for only one day or multiple days. As I find out more, I will let you know.
  • Our company is sending 2 groups, one at the beginning of the week and one at the end. I am trying to go in the first group cause I have a race (see avatar pic) the following weekend. If I am in the first group, I will get in on Sunday night and leave Tuesday night.

    From IMTS:
    Update on IMTS

The AMT Board of Directors and AMT staff have been closely monitoring the impact COVID-19 has had on its members, IMTS exhibitors and visitors, and the industry. We sincerely hope that you, your family and your business remain healthy and safe.

As you may know, we have spent the past several weeks trying to get clarity from Illinois Governor, J. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor, Lori Lightfoot, regarding the exact requirements for trade shows to take place in Chicago. In early May, Governor Pritzker introduced a five-phased plan to reopen Illinois businesses. As it reads, the plan specifically states that conventions are included in phase 5 of the plan. The conditions that must be met for the implementation of phase 5 feature either the availability of a vaccine for the COVID 19 virus or a highly effective treatment protocol, neither of which are expected to occur in the coming months.

In light of these difficult and challenging circumstances, IMTS - The International Manufacturing Technology Show, scheduled for September 14-19, 2020 had to be cancelled. While this saddens us, the health and safety of our exhibitors and audience remains our top priority.
  • I worked the show at the KURT booth ( in 1996 ?? and only time I have been there ). I remember talking to someone who had been part of the show for years and he said at that time they started getting stuff setup in late July ?? Maybe due to the enormous amount of prep time the show takes I'm sure it didn't help.

I thought the COVID-19 thing was done. Oh wait, its ramping back up because Trump is going to start doing his rallies again.
  • It's funny, can't have a trade show because of covid, but riots are ok...
