If I use a CMM to take 100 individual vector points with a tactile probe along a cylinder on a CAD model and then construct those points into a cylinder, are the points considered to be a point cloud before the construction? I've have a faro laser line probe on my faro arm using polyworks and to me, a point cloud is made up of points with no xyz and ijk information that must be extracted from a model or reference feature for comparison.
