3D Printing

I recently designed and 3D printed a CMM fixture for an oddly shaped part. (It turned out amazing)
I was just wondering if anyone else uses a 3D printer for work or pleasure and what applications have you found your 3D printer the most useful in a manufacturing environment?

  • I think I may have convinced my shop to buy a 3D printer. I printed a custom tool for our rivet gun (to test fit, the actual tool will be steel) and just playing around they tested the 3d print on a real rivet and it held up. I don't know how much pressure it was actually under but the production supervisor was impressed how strong it was
  • I have a friend that owns a suspension shop for motorcycle racing. He is printing spring spaces for the forks out of PETG and it is working great. Some of his customers run in the MotoAmerica series so his prints are under pressure at the highest level or racing in the country with no complaints or failures. He is printing them on an Ender 2 V2.
