CMM tape

I was told there is a double sided tape that is called CMM tape sold by 3M. I can not find it. Anyone have any good ideas as to a double sided tape for a CMM?

  • First CMM I ever used was a manual Cordax with hard probes and an optional touch probe. Most of our parts were thick machined flat aluminum plate with holes drilled in them. Basically loaded in the right sized cone shaped hard probe and dropped it in the hole. Didn't have any fixturing and the policy was to use a wide double sided tape to make sure the part didn't move because of the hard probe. Don't know how many times I put accidently down too much tape and had to chisel up the part.

Lol I have definitely had to chisel up my fair share of parts. It is the worst whenever I am using a razor blade to try and get a small gap of air to slide something under the part and my razor blade breaks because the part is so firmly glued to the table, scares me every time lol
