It's finally happening! I have been approved to purchase a new CMM! About time...I have been waiting for at least 5 years. Time to upgrade from our 17 year old B&S 7.10.7.
That sob must creak(make noise) moving down the table! Are you going to Retire when the machine does?
only issue it has is that it has the original Z axis drive system (the others were upgraded when we upgraded to the SHARPE32 controller, which should tell you how long ago that was done!), which is a 4 foot long rod that spins and it has a carriage with offset bearings that make the up/down movement as the rod spins. You think some 35+ year old rod is still straight & true? NOT! But I don't think it really ever was as too fast has always created false triggers in Z (and I've been using it for over 30 years).
