It's finally happening! I have been approved to purchase a new CMM! About time...I have been waiting for at least 5 years. Time to upgrade from our 17 year old B&S 7.10.7.
I want to upgrade to a bigger machine. We currently have a 12.30.10 and some of our parts we have to an equate alignment because of the parts are so long. I want to get away from that if possible. They are also currently sending out quotes for even longer and wider parts. I can inspect them on the machine we have but it requires me to get extremely crafty. The last wide part we did, the shop had to make triangles so we could set the part on an angle since it was so wide, and even then it barely fit. Problem is, with all the new CNC machines the company is buying, we don't have floor space to expand FAI which would be required since we won't replace the 12.30.10, we'd add to our aresenal of CMMs. We have 5 currently but we could sell the smallest CMM (5.5.5) cause it is very rarely used.
