Happy World Metrology Day!

World Metrology Day is an annual celebration of the signature of the Metre Convention on 20 May 1875 by representatives of seventeen nations. The Convention set the framework for global collaboration in the science of measurement and in its industrial, commercial and societal applications. The original aim of the Metre Convention - the world-wide uniformity of measurement - remains as important today as it was in 1875.

  • I feel bad telling you this but SpaceX designs their rockets in Metric. The falcon 9 is Imperial but starship, starlink, and all of the new stuff is metric. I have heard that everything designed by SpaceX will be in metric from now on.

So likely the next rocket that lands on the moon will have been designed in Metric. Also Elon posted on twitter years ago that the mars lander will be metric.

I am from Texas so I prefer Imperial but it would be pretty convenient if everything was standardized. I am tried of translating units.
