I have an old Sheffield that i need to dispose of. Doe any one have any ideals about how to go about doing this? I've called several scrap yards and landfills with no luck. A little help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
Yeah my phone if it doesn't recognize you it goes straight to voice mail, can't figure out the setting on that, but sorry to inform you, not interested anymore. My boss gives about 15 minutes to respond. Then he goes in a different direction, We were interested in the Granite basically, and when you didn't respond right away, He called up our supplier and ordered a Starrett Table. So sorry I'm out.
i always thought it would be fun to take an old CMM and make a turret out of it, like one of these
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CROWS you got the servos... some pretty decent codable interface to work with... of course don't forget I am insane
This makes me think of our Zeiss Contura HTG. It's a 2002 model with a Vast Xt scanning head but the QM doesn't like Zeiss CMMs and until I recently rejoined the company (after being gone for 6 years), they had no one to program it. They did use it running a lot of legacy programs that I had written back in the day. Anyway.... they want to scrap it out even though it still runs and IMHO, is more accurate than all of the Hexagon CMMs that we have and it scans soooooo much better than the Leitz POS that we use. You ever watch a Zeiss Vast machine scan vs. the Leitz scanning a 3D surface or moving around corners the Zeiss smokes the Leitz.
I told him if he was going to scrap it that I'd give him $1k more than what the scrap year would give him and he didn't respond.... sad to see some of these CMMs die the way they do.
