  • I see a lot of them at customers collecting dust. I've yet to see one actually being used.

At the company I once worked for, for the two years after they got the Equator, it sat idle most of the time. It was purchased for a particular product line that just wasn’t being produced much at that time. It became a running gag that the Quality Manager never saw it running and loved to complain about it. Also, the local Renishaw sales rep kept asking me if he could have potential customers come see it in action. Each time I had to tell him it was a bad time. We wouldn’t be using it the days he was hoping to visit.

Eventually things picked back up and that machine ran quite regularly. Still, it would only run for about 20 minutes out of each hour. So, the QM would still manage to walk by it at an idle moment and complain Rolling eyes. I guess I could have reduced the move speed on all the programs so the machine would have to run constantly, but I’m just too practical. Man, I sure don’t miss that job!
