Coating for scanning

Hey I tagged you because I know you said somewhere on here you used it, or I think it was you, what brand or what works best for coating a nice shiny nickel plate finish, This is the first time the blue light scanner has struggled.

  • Hmmm. I bet that works pretty good.

I used to do a lot of ultrasonic NDT inspection. The company was too cheap to buy real couplant gel so we had to use liquid hand soap. It did the job, but it was a real mess to clean up.

The issue was, the aerosol spray caused a static buildup on the surface. The scan would pick it up as a fine layer of points just above the actual surface points. We always called it a ghost image. I don't think it was more than .001" difference and I would go away once the static dissipated but, that took a few hours and we never had that long to wait.
