Hey guys. I am starting a list of reasons why I need a 3D printer. Do you all have any pictures or examples of where a 3D printer made an impact for you either in programming or with gages or fixtures.
No pictures but I had a group of free form FAI parts come thru that I desperately want to 3D print a fixture for. I have a vise with soft jaws. I want to create a block that will fit the vise, import the part cad into the middle of the vise, remove material for some access to the outside of the part, and then split the block down the middle.
Outside surfaces don't do anything but look pretty for marketing. Inside surface had a hole pattern where none of the pads were on the same level. Being really careful, I could get the part mechanically aligned to the CMM to run Manual alignment and the FAI program. Really don't want the operators trying to do a manual alignment on this one.
