Elizabeth II

Friendly thoughts to those who are sad to have lost their Queen...
  • It is a sad day, My wife and I always loved the Monarch stories and life. RIP Queen Elizabeth ll.
  • Life goes on. I'm neither a royalist nor particularly against the monarchy but apart from her Queen status she was a pretty remarkable woman.

Some great stories of her doing the rounds at the minute!

Offered a visiting Saudi prince a tour of one of the estates. He gets in the Landrover expecting someone from the estate to give him a tour.

She gets in the driver's seat and proceeds to rally him round the grounds at high speed (women weren't allowed to drive in Saudi-Arabia at the time)

    Absolutely terrified the bloke!

She was a British Army mechanic/driver during WW2 and a lifelong gearhead. She had a classic car collection that she worked on and maintained herself... until her later years. She was not allowed to drive on public roads so, she would take her Corgies and drive around the grounds of her home in Scotland.
