interesting question. I know that hex builds some pretty massive machines, but I've never really looked at any other, as for sales and such, don't know.

Same here. Been with pc.dmis since the get go. All I could find via google is Hexagon might have 16% world CMM market share which is surprisingly low yet being no.1 still. I can only assume Zeiss might be 2nd & Mitu 3rd. Rest of top10 no idea.
Sure but which one of how many dozen or so cmm builders out there are the biggest? I can google top10 CNC machine builders in a minute (Mazak is the biggest) but zilch about CMMs.
If you have access to a university library, you can generally get market analysis reports for free. Otherwise it's like $3k minimum to find the answer from a market research org. lol.
The last time I snagged one was in 2013, which showed Hexagon has been market dominant for at least a decade due to them snatching up all the companies they could.
