to relocate or not relocate

So PCD programming jobs are hard to find around here. How many people have moved to different locations to find that CMM programmer dream job? Was it really worth it and how do you know if it is?
  • I know people that have moved to a different area and hated it and also have moved and loved it. That is a question that only you can answer as everyone is different.

There are many factors to look into:

    1) Is programming your passion? Do you want to move on from programming into a QE / QM?
    2) Do you want to stay in Quality?
    3) Are you willing to move?
    4) Can you live a similar or better lifestyle by moving to another location? This includes money, hobbies, education, family endeavors, etc.
    5) Research where you want to live.
  • I've relocated twice. First one I loved; Second one was the most horrific experience I could have ever imagined. My advice is go with your gut. If there's something thats not feeling right; even if you can't put your finger on it: then pass on it. Don't go strictly because of money. Horrific experience came with a 35% pay raise for essentially the same duties. Left there after throwing up at least once a week for months because of the situation.

Your Six Hundred Sixty-Sixth post! How appropriate.
Sorry that experience went so badly for you.
