Does anyone else completely shutdown their machines during severe thunderstorms ? My boss always has us shutdown all the CMMS. I think it's overkill but it gives me time to sit outside and watch the lightning and rain . Just wondering if anyone else does this .

nope. but, a few years ago they decided to put in a welding station on the 'other side' of the lab (lab is between the incoming power and the welding station) so I told them electricity can do funky stuff, so before you power it up, get me two UPS units, one for each machine, so they are effectively isolated from everything.
