Nexus does not show updated/replied-to threads correctly?

It seems some threads are displayed in bold text, which means that someone replied to that thread/or created it. As such, it is "new" for me since my last logon.
However, some threads have been replied to, but it doesn't show up in bold text. Why is that?

Parents
  • Posts that show up in bold text are posts which have not been read by you. If new replies are included in a post which is read, it does not mark the post as un-read.

If you have read a post and are interested in following it, you have the option to "Turn Reply Notifications on".

  • I was expecting (like every other forum software out there) that new posts since my last login were to be displayed as bold...

That makes it soooo much easier to "follow" and I don't want to turn on notifications except it is something that I really don't want to miss.

    Example:
I'd like all the yellow-marked threads to be bold as these have new replies since my last login:

Instead of having that visual cue as to what is new and not, I must guess how long it was since my last login and eyeball the timestamp
to know which thread *may* have new replies. This is silly and contrary to how all other forum software handles this.
