Ok I got them to run.. It was an error on my part. Sometimes you can't see the trees for the forest.
Here is the dumb thing that I did. After the edit I did a save as to a new name,right below the save as in the script editor window is unicode option I had clicked that after I removed the check mark all is well.... Something so simple drove me nuts all weekend. I even took this home to work on it.... Dang me.
