Rack Mount Point

I do not know how to extract the X,Y, Z read point in the rack calibration as you are after, but one thing you could do, is when you set this rack point, also go into the preferences and define the clearpoint with the same point.

Then in programs, if you want to move to this point, you use the move/clearpoint command.

Use the sequence of moving in the Z first, then the XY plane.

If your rack point is higher above the rack, the clear point hopefully will clear all parts/fixtures on your table.

Yeah, I thought of that.  Just looking for a quick and dirty way to grab that information.

Make a quick new program that creates an external alignment with a READPOIONT (X Y Z = 0) that is the MOUNT POINT on for your rack. Or wherever point near the rack you'd like to use.

Call and Save the external alignment named RACK_ALN.

In other programs:

When you need to move to the rack point you created, Recall External RACK_ALN alignment, follow it with a MOVE POINT to 0,0,0. Then recall your previous alignment.

RECALL/ALIGNMENT,EXTERNAL,RACK_ALN

MOVE/POINT,NORMAL,<0,0,0>

RECALL/ALIGNMENT,INTERNAL,ABC

That will work.   Not as elegant as I would like (I'm weird that way), but it will do what I want.

You may want to consider using the MOVE/CLEARPOINT command.  That lets you define a point on the CMM that the probe will move directly to whenever the command is executed.

The issue with that is that it will vary depending on which probe is loaded and what probe angle you're at, MOVE/CLEARPOINT is the way to go for this.

Yes, that will work.

However, my OCD does not like pressing <F10> to confirm MOVE/CLEARPOINT parameters. 

I'd rather use MOVE/POINT,NORMAL,<,,0>  to control movements in 1 axis (Z in this case).
