using features from another program for dimensioning

I need help with checking the true position of a circle using a datum from another program for mating holes. I have only used single variables on features and dimensions within the same program. I am new to programing with expressions and I am struggling to get a grasp on it. I am looking for a script I can copy and edit. I am thinking i need to use file input/output commands for this.

CIR1 X1.5 Y1.5 Z0 will be assigned datum D, positioned .010 from ABC on program 1

CIR2 X1.5 Y1.5 Z0 positioned .005 from datum D on program 2

This sounds like it may fall into the category of using a subroutine, but I have almost no experience using them. May I ask why you need to use 2 separate programs instead of doing this all in the same program?

I need 2 programs as they are 2 halves of a mating part. I guess as a work around I could run both parts at the same time but I want to figure out the program language
