need help with freeform scan

Hi all,

I'm having a bit of a problem w/ a freeform scan, I have a semi cylindrical surface that i'm trying to scan(xyplane). I can't use a section scan b/c the surface is also semi-circular in the yz plane and is not very thick, section scan just won't fit. so, when i make the scan all of the points are where they should be the scan looks good but it's trying to scan from the inside of the part instead of the outside, all of the hit vectors are in the wrong direction. i've gone through and manually changed all of the hit vectors to the correct direction but the initial hit vector still wants to measure from the inside of the part, which is solid.

anyone have any ideas?

also let me know if you need any clarification...

  • Check the vectors in PCDMIS. . . . Edit-> graphics display window -> cad vectors . . . Click the surface in question and look for the green arrow. . . If it is incorrect you can hit fix and pcdmis will try to guess if it should be flipped or not, or you can click flip if pcdmis guesses wrong. . . . Be careful though because if you flip one to make it correct then click another surface and flip that one without deselecting the first one, you will flip it back to the wrong direction again. . .
