I did a quick (very quick) check on the wilcox site.

Forget it. I tried a couple of months ago, and didn't have much success. You're right, the tutorial within PC-DMIS is pretty vague. I ended up using Saved Viewsets and Screen Captures To Clipboard, and pasting everything into Word.
I use hyper reports for all outputs and have them singin and dancing. I had to spend hours teaching myself how to use them as the standard reports were no good for the "supervisors" in our shop, generally speaking they are one step up the ladder from the amoeba.
If you plan on upgrading to 4.1 its said to not support hyper reports.
This is partially true. In 4.0 and higher you can no longer
edit hyper reports inside PC-DMIS. You can still, however,
execute hyper reports within PC-DMIS 4.x. Also, much of what you could do in hyper reporting you can continue to do in the Forms Editor. See this post here for more info.
