Cone best fit calculation errors

We have a family of parts and the only difference between them is the over all length. Each has a 4° taper that is .5" deep and I have been having random best fit calculation errors when they are measured. Can run any of these parts and have not problems at all then will have nothing but problems getting this fixed so it will calculate the cone. I can run a part and it will be ok, get the best fit error and parts that ran on the CMM will not run again. The only difference is the number of rows. I have tried many variations to the number of hits and rows and nothing works but 3 hits 2 rows. I can run this way for a while then switch it back and it will be OK for a while. I am wanting to use more hits than minimum because this is a datum feature.

  • Dwade,

Unfortunately, I don't have a clue either. What version of pcdmis are you running?

Do the folks at Hexagon keep track of these "glitches" so that they can actually be addressed? I'm not trying to be smart.

I just dont' know if they monitor these queries so that they can improve the software, or are we to send them in directly?

P.S.; I really like your saying; "Lord, keep Your arm around my shoulder and Your hand over my mouth. Amen".
