When trying to print a report to pdf/rtp the software just crashes. I have looked at the search paths and uninstalled and reinstalled the program but still have the same probelm.
Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be please?
See screenshot.
A network printer is set to the default anyway. But still the same problem and yes i have been able to print before but i have changed laptop. So i think that i file or something could be missing in the install, but i dont have an installation disk all i got told to do was copy the folder over to the new laptop and everything should be fine.
Someone who works for hexagon in the uk. I copied all the pc dmis files that where on the computer onto the new laptop. Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the program and all the drivers but nothing seems to be working. I cant remember if the old computer was windows vista and if it was will because i am using windows 7 have anything to do with this?? Also could it be do with the admistrative rights on the printer files?
Hopefully you can help.
I had this problem a few weeks ago when IT changed out our printer and didn't tell me. Each time I ran a program, at the end it would try to print to PCDMIS 40 Convert (ya know the screen) It came down to a few small things. set File>Printing>printer setup ...to your printer. Then File>Report printing print setup...uncheck printer and file if your not printing the report from your laptop. Last as a failsafe , insert print command at the end of your program and set "to printer" to off. HTH, these are a few things that I did to get it back up and running.
I had the same problem on 2013 PCDmis when it was first installed. I tryed to uninstall and install back through the built in PDF installer but it didnt help. I went through the Amyuni forum where was writen to uncheck advanced printer options in windows printer settings. That fixed crashing but reports stayed in printer tasks. Finaly Ive found in printer tasks were printer set to offline use and that seems to be the problem. So it was about how to set printer in windows not in PCDmis.
You see at the bottom of your screen where it says LPT1, yea if you're trying to print a PDF and it says "LPT1" it's going to crash.
Open up devices and printers
Right click on the PDF-40 printer and select "Printer Properties" if you select the one that says properties you will be at the wrong screen.
Select the "Ports" tab.
Select the port labeled "NUL" If you don't have this port you will need to google how to add this port, it's easy I'm just not going to go through it here.
Click "apply".
Close this window and reboot.
Now you don't need to reboot if there aren't any files jammed up in the print que but save yourself a lot of hair pulling and just reboot the machine.
