I would say I am an average level programmer, not so great at working with models with complex origins though. I was just wondering if anyone could offer me some links, advice, help, anything to learn how to manipulate the origin in a cad model. Most common issue I have is the orientation, as in flipping the Y+ and Z+, if the origin is perfect I can program perfectly with the model, I am the only one here who does programming so I am outsourcing my issue. Also, I unfortunetely only have PC-DMIS 2001 and can't quite figure out "program mode" or iterative alignments---please help!
I am running V4.2MR1. To align the cad model axis with my CMM axis, I go to the start up alignment at the very beginning of th program F9 edit that alignment and rotate the axis to match my cmm. Then I do my manual ,either 321 or iterative alignment, to the cad model. You can also translate the trihedron to whatever feature you want to use as your primary datum in the same start up alignment, I do this because the cad model and the prints I get never have the same feature as the primary datum.
