We just recieved some "UPDATED" print from a customer that they decied that they need to measure/control the ARC LENGTHS rather than the RAD. itself for assembly pourposes. Is measuring / reporting an ARC LEGNTH even possible ? Has anyone here ever done it ? I dont have any idea where to even start ?
I belive you can. I've never used it but ARCSEGMENTSTARTINDEX/ARCSEGMENTENDINDEX Look this up in the help files. I think this is what your looking for.
Good luck, when you figure it out please let me know how. I have some prints with lofted wing surfaces that have no constant radius or arc. No results yet. I just measure it and use profile of form. If they want a "better" measured number I grab a tape measure or long flexible scale.

The problem with this approach is that the arc length is calculated from the diameter measurement, so it essentially the same as measuring a diameter or radius.
I know that it is possible to construct a curve from a scan in pcdmis and dimension the length of the curve using location L axis, but I've never used it.
If you're using a scan, with a very short distance between hits, you can calculate the lengh by summing the distance between hits. Some thing like it :
