Jog box Issues

Hey all. I'm having an issue that continues to keep happening with our CMM jog boxes. We have two small CMM's a performance and an image. The issue I'm having is that every few months or so when holding just the enable button on the jog box the machine will move the probe in the -Z- direction either up or down with using the joystick. I know how to reset the controller and it will go back to normal for a little while before reverting back to the old way. However, one machine has a much stranger issue. Same issue in the fact that it happens just by holding the enable button, but this one moves in the -X- and -Y- coordinate towards the back right of the machine. I cannot even reset the controller to stop it from happening. We have re ordered so many new jog boxes over the past year or two that it is becoming an issue. Now mind you these jog boxes are no mistreated or mishandled, I'm just not sure if it is a CMM problem or what? Any ideas...? Neutral faceConfusedConfused

  • Press and hold the enable button and all three axis buttons (X, Y, Z) at the same time. Does every other light on the speed indicator light up? If so, congratulations, you've just reset your jogbox. Wait a couple of seconds for the speed indicator to return to normal and "turn on" your three axis buttons by pressing them again and see if that helps.

I've done this before on 2 CMM And it worked but I have a 454 SF that it wont' work. Every other speed indicator LEDs is off and no matter how long i hold it. They all don't fully illuminate. Probe still drifts when you press the enable button only.

    Any ideas?
  • SOUNDS like your joy stick is dusty, you could remove the cover and lightly spray compressed air in the joint to free up whats causing the drag. we had this issue couple months ago and this fixed it.
Playstation controllers have this problem also. Some people use alcohol to clean off the worn plastic but i would use caution in doing that.
