'DOF: M54' Alarm

We are having movement issues with our CMM. During a programme the CMM stops and it tells us "DOF: M54 invalid machine not in manual mode".

The machine is in the middle of a programme, it all runs in DCC mode. So we are unsure why it is implying we should be in Manual mode to move from A-B along an axis. Even in the middle of a calibration run the CMM stops and shows this message.

If we press 'continue' it carries on like normal, so it looks like some sort of jolt or glitch. We can't have someone stand next to the CMM pressing 'continue' every two minutes during a programme, so we would like to solve this issue.

What is it, and why is it doing it?

PC-DMIS 2013. Tesa Micro Xcel. PH10T. Browne & Sharpe controller.

  • Your boss is a cheapskate moron who refuses to spend money an something he obviously knows just enough about to be dangerous.
You need proper training and your cmm's need servicing.
    Who does the calibration?
Hexagon will give your boss recommendations regarding where you keep the cmm's and how you look after them.
If he ignores them then don't bust a gut trying to make them work, make him pay hexagon to fix them.
Eventually he will realise its cheaper to put them in a clean environment that spend thousands fixing them.
It took me 4 years to get that done here, and I have 12 cmms on the shop in various enviroments.
