Can this tutorial help me?

I've found this great tutorial on iterative alignment which was posted on this forum, http://cmmquarterly.mbccmm.com/index.php/training/pc-dmis/30-alignments-how-to and I've read it 10 times, but I'm not sure how it can lend itself to my current sheet metal part.

This is a rough representation of the part in question. Iterative_example.pdf

I can't seem to wrap my head around how I can pick 3 vector points as per the tutorial vs the print showing 3 points on 2 planes, and that it is still Datum -A-. Is it really that simple? Does iterative do all the work?

  • Hi Werkin,

Yeah, Iterative alignment will do the work. You have CAD model imported correct?

Well, just colect the 3 vector points using the mouse but don't measure them until you finish creating all the features needed
for your alignment (2 circles with 3 sample hits). Once the features have been created theoretically mark all and execute.
