True position using z axis and angle

I am measuring this part right now this is a cylinder about 3 inches tall. The od is dat-b. The top plane is dat-a and dat-c is a slot in the center of the part. The part has 4 counter bore holes along the side of it every 90 degrees. Here is a picture of what the result looks like, and i know its wrong.
Do i need the od dat to be a cylinder or a circle?
Does it matter if its a constructed cyl or an auto cyl?
My dat c is a constructed width, should it be the line instead?

I added two pictures if that helps

please help!!

  • So if you don't trust it in Xact measure why are you so confident in Legacy?

I'm not trying to be a pain here just trying to figure out your reasoning?

Using Legacy, you simply Align the part to the FCF, so you don't have to depend on the Demon to Align it for you. Also, IMO, it just so much easier to understand the results when you know that you created the Alignment correct, so all you really looking at is the Actual NOM and Actual deviations.

When you use Xact, you don't really know what is going on, you select your datum's and hoping that it will do the Job for you, and will calculate all the results. It can get pretty confusing with datum shifts and very long results on your report. I don't like confusion, I like simplicity, so that is why I don't use it. Call me old fashioned, dinosaur, I don't care.
