I was asked to finally figure out PC-DMIS Gear 2.5 (we bought it well over 2 years ago, and haven't used it yet). I think I'm doing ok working my way through it, but I'm a little hung up on the manual alignment.
I'm good up until it asks me to probe a hit on the left side of tooth one (and the right side of tooth one). The problem is that I have no idea which tooth "one" is. I tried the tooth at the 0° (X+) position, and at the 270° (Y-) position with no luck.
I looked at the execute window and the XYZ and IJK values don't really line up. The left side of tooth one probe hit is supposed to be at an I of 1 (approximately) but at X 2.2xxx, Y0.9xxx which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
Can someone elaborate on what the gear software is trying to tell me? I looked through the help manual, but not much luck on the "tooth one" issue.
Figured out that tooth one is actually the tooth at the 0° (X+) location. Got the gear aligned, now I'm just trying to figure out how to get the program to run.
I got the program to run, I used a "GO" gage we had made for a part years ago to write the program. The information on the handle of the gage was in standard, but the internal spline for the part it was made to is in metric. Once I plugged in all the correct metric measurements it ran great.
I don't know if this will work for my application though. The gear specs are to ASME(?) B96.2 and I don't have the option to check the gear to that spec.
