We have a PC management program at work and its time for a new tower. Before it gets here I want to have all my ducks in a row. My question is, is there a checklist that walks us through this process? I have 2012 MR1.
I needed to move our online seat to our offline seat while a failing hard drive was replaced.
Both PC's running Win7 x64 & PcDmis 2014.1 SP2. We have a FDC controller.
1) backup online registry settings using Settings Editor
2) note the online PC hardware settings for the type of communication used with the controller (for us it was a network card), note adapter IP address, etc.
3) copy all unique probe files, report templates, etc.
4) duplicate adapter settings on new PC
5) load PcDmis on new PC
6) copy registry settings to new PC using Settings Editor
7) copy unique user files to new PC
Going from memory but I think that's all there was to it.
If you have an SMA get ready to have Hexagon take over your computer. If you do not have an up to date SMA I would get current.......
With that said we went from a 32 Bit PC to a 64 Bit PC..... That is a can of worms that I do not ever want to go thru. Oh and the going to a 64 Bit PC was company IT mandated .

Where ever you want. EDIT / SET SEARCH PATH. Look here and you will see where DMIS is "currently looking" for your probe files. I think the default for this has been the same for a few versions now.
