TR_PRB01 error

I'm using a 1mm ball tip to try to check the slot on a part and it's giving me some serious trouble. I establish a read point and build my alignment, tell the probe to drop to the proper Z value, and move into the slot. It checks the first two points on either end of the slot without any problem. When I try to take a point on the top and bottom back in the center of the slot, it originally gave me the TR_PRB01 error. After cranking the speed way down and setting the prehit/retract to miniscule amounts before the probe moves into the slot, it's giving me the TR_MOV01 error instead, but still only on the top and bottom of the slot. It contacts the point, but then appears to continue moving a bit before alarming out.

I have a feeling it has something to do with the fact that the slot width is only .046" at nominal, and the probe isn't much smaller than that, but it's the smallest probe I have.

For reference:

Probe tip: 1 x 20mm ball tip
Wrist angle: Set to A90B180
Movement speed: 20%
Touch speed: 2%
Prehit/retract: anywhere from .5mm down to .05mm

Any suggestions?
