Schizoid CMM

Global 575, TP200, PC-DMIS 2015.1. Cleaned calibrated last April.
Using tips .3X20, .5X20, 1X20 consistently measures +.0003/.0004 in (0.008/0.010 mm)on various calibrated gages (ring, sphere, block).
Switched head and everything else with Global 2. No change. Machine 1 FUBAR, #2 results in tolerance.
Results of 2.5 hour online session with Hexagon -
Best probe calibration results are achieved at 0.75 mm/sec. Best measurement (closest to verified gage size but still over machine tolerance) at 11. Also manual is beter than DCC. Confused
Rant - Hexagon tech comment "I will discuss with engineering and some other groups ". This was last Wednesday. No responce since. Ticket was opened on 11/10. So down to 1 machine and I'm being asked to fill in for missing personel - end rant Angry
Any helpfull suggestions? It is a short week.Stuck out tongue closed eyes

  • Sounds like you have all the basics down.

I would expect if it was squareness then the error would not follow the other axis, but it would depend on how and where the machine was out of square. But if you can repeat the same values in all 3 planes then squareness becomes less likely.

We eliminate a lot of things right away, at this point I would be looking to see if both the X axis and Y axis measure a length standard the same. I would be questioning controller temp comp at this point too, but that would be if one machine had and the other machine did not have temp comp.

Is this error relatively new or were you able to get these machines to match before recently?
