Mixing probe module brands?

Hey guys,

I'm going to say sorry ahead of time for this question. I have been left with a CMM and no programmer. I was taught basic operating procedure but nothing else. I have a probe module that has gone out and have a simple question about probe modules. The module that has gone bad is a Renishaw TP20 and have a random Tesa probe module. Can I use the Tesa or do I have to get a new TP20. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  • Glad that it's working.

    The Tesa Tesastar-mp (old name) Hexagon HP-TM (new name) modules sold by Hexagon in the USA are perfectly compatible with the TP20 probe body.

    However: there is a European version of these Tesa probe & module systems that is incompatible with the US version. The Euro versions have a probe body with an extended "sleeve" that has the clocking triangles as little window cutouts, and the modules have much thinner plastic color bands. These have not been sold in the US for years, but there are still some around. You can't mix & match them with the US versions.
