probe Re Qualification

I am trying to qualify 3 different probes
1. 2 mm diameter probe 20mm long
2. 1mm diameter star probe on a 20mm extension
3. 5mm diameter probe on a 50mm extension

I calibrate the first probe A0B0 saying the sphere has moved then no to the other 2

I then measure a 40mm diameter with the 2mm probe at A90B180 and I datum the 2mm probe in x,z

I then measure the same diameter with the 1mm star probe and 5mm probe but I get the x,z readings as x = 0.021 and z= 0.009 in relation to the 2mm probe ... no matter what I try I cant get the 1mm and 5mm probe the same as the 2mm probe

Please help ...... Just had the Mistral CNC UKAS calibrated
  • From your description it's not obvious that you actually calibrate the A90B180 angle, too, but if you do and still see this problem I would suggest something is loose, or the ruby sphere on the 2 mm tip damaged.

What's your probe setup? Analog or TTP (tp20) with probe changer?

Is Std dev Ok on all probes and angles?

Is a part alignment defined before measuring the diameter and switching probes?
