This happens to me every once and while when performing rotary scans. I seemed to be able to avoid it using PCDMIS 2015 if I set the parameters in a specific order however I'm using 2017 now and every time I make a rotary scan it generates a scan with 25,000 points.
Does anyone know how I can manage to change this behavior? regardless of what I set the point density to in the feature parameter window it always creates 25,000 points.
How long is the scan (in mm / inches) ?
What is the point density in the F10 option probe ?
You can also look at the setting editor, search "rotary", and see if there's a specifical parameter.
The scan density gives a number of hits per mm, even if you work in imperial...
I believe 25000 is the max number of points PC-DMIS will generate, so if for some reason the increment becomes zero, that's what you get. In other words: I think it's a bug.
Good point for Sweden (and for Swedish peoples
AndersI and
vpt.se )
I tested rotary scan offline (V2014), the boundary plane doesn't seem to work, so the scan turn and turn up to 25000 hits...
So it's a bug (and maybe an old one)
jouellette : using a basic scan circle/plane or an autoplane/scan should give the right result.
If I remove the second hit on the BPs, the rotary scan works, generating 1000 and some change hits. However, with the same parameters, when I have a second BP, it generates 25,000 hits.
V2021.2 SP5
Basic Circle Scan seems to do the trick as Jefman pointed out.
This happened to be in 2017 R2 when cloning programs or copying/pasting with pattern. Nothing seemed to help but if I deleted and re-created the scan, everything was fine. I chalked it up to another bug from the Demon.
