I am working on creating Vision CMM programs that would allow the operator to run a program that would measure features in DCC mode and also manually measure features and key in the results for parts that need to be sectioned and can not be measured in DCC mode. The problem I've ran into is that when you insert a key in dimension the program does not allow for the operator to use features in the probe toolbox to perform manual measurements. The program just continues to run until the key in dimension is entered. Suggestions?
Are you looking to manually measure parts with vision on the CMM or are you measuring them outside the CMM (like a comparator) and then having them key-in the dimensions?
With vision, you have the option of changing the function of the feature from automatic to manual in the dropdown within the feature itself so an operator can manually measure certain features. I do this on a regular, especially on features that may not be formed very well.
Now, if you are going the option of measuring outside of the CMM and having them key-in features, I would go the route of having operator comment inputs and putting those variables into a generic feature and dimension the generic feature.
