Any Ideas on what to look for would be great.

  • Back up your settings and try doing a Reset User. This will reset all your default user settings. You can import your backed up settings. Should do the trick. However, importing your settings back in may cause this to crash like previously. Then you just have to spend the time redoing icon layouts, search paths, etc.
  • Program will not even let me do anything at startup, it just crash right away.

You do this in Settings Editor. Does that crash as well?
  • You should try to "talk" to the controller (hyper terminal or internet explorer, depends on the controller)

Jefman, you're a robot. Remember? Only you can do that. Us humans don't talk to controllers. Stuck out tongue closed eyes

    Beeeeeep !
    I forgot that point....
Maybe you could learn, it's not too hard.
You just have to ear the difference between "bip" and "beeeep"

On a DC241 or DC800, just type 100.0.0.1 on IE adress, and the error appears on a red window.
On a B3CLC, you have to install hyperterminal, and type the IP adress of the cmm, then "CTRL+E+C+B", often twice, then "STATUS", and the error appears, if it's a hardware one.

    Beeeep...
  • Does it crash, and offer you a chance to submit the crash report? or does it just shut down immediately?

Remember that old issue where it tells you your graphics driver is outdated, and ask if you want to continue? Some people would mark the "Don't ask me again" combined with selecting the NO option. The result would be that it would just start up and shut down immediately with no prompt.

ps: If it is truly crashing, do you submit the report? DO you add your e-mail and some comment? If you PM me your e-mail that you used (case sensitive) or your license info, I will try to see where the crash report leads to. . .
  • Try starting it with doubleclicking on PCDLRN.EXE in the install folder, bypassing the launcher.

    Does it still crash?
  • Hello. Sorry to bring up an old thread. I just started a new job and my company is having this same issue. Well, some users in my department are having this issue while others aren't. We're all on the same computer with separate login accounts. 2019 R2, crashes immediately after starting up.

So far 8 of us have logged on to attempt to run it. 3 of us (including the admin) have no issues whatsoever. 1 of us are stuck in Protect Mode and the password popup doesn't pop up to get out (though I'm sure that's a totally different topic), and the other 4 (including the department supervisor) generate crash reports as soon as PC-DMIS finishes loading in.

I've gone and cleared messageboxoptions.dat for one user hoping they just hit No on the video driver popup, but that didn't stop the crash.

My supervisor and IT say they've gone in and done Reset User before with no affect.

Are there any other available options? Would deleting the affected users' profiles and logging in fresh fix the issue? Is there anything else to try before uninstalling and reinstalling PC-DMIS?
